Skylar is currently pursuing a PhD in astrophysics at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on galactic evolution, using computational methods to model the universe and understanding how supermassive black holes lead to a loss of material over time. With a diverse research background including pharmaceutical lab work, dark matter research, and nanomaterial modeling, she has always loved the process of doing science, but it was astrophysics that captured her imagination more than any other field.
At ASU, she is also working on a secondary project in education research and is passionate about teaching and inspiring the next generation of young scientists. This passion led her to social media, where she started posting videos on TikTok this year, sharing astronomy fun facts and generally using it as a creative outlet. As her platform grew, she expanded her reach in the realm of science communication to Twitter and YouTube and has recently been accepted to participate in the NASA Social event for the Artemis 1 launch.
